Members of Canadian Dementia Learning and Resource Network (CDLRN), including Dementia Community Investment (DCI) project teams, people living with dementia and care partners, worked together to identify the foundational knowledge – or information that everyone needs to know – for a dementia initiative. This foundational knowledge was assembled through a collaborative process during the 2022 Annual Forum, an annual opportunity for members of the CDLRN to gather for capacity building workshops, discussion panels, and relationship building. Attendees worked in groups to identify background knowledge they found to be crucial to any dementia initiative.

This foundational knowledge is organized into several categories/themes; each of these themes are presented with examples, links to resources, and practical ideas for implementing these considerations in your initiative.

The sections on adaptability and flexibility, and sustainability were co-created with content expert Dr. Julia Moore and her team at the Center for Implementation.
